Plein Air Painting: Keeping it Simple with Liz Taft
Dates: Friday - Sunday, June 5 - 7
Time: 4:00PM - 6:00PM Friday at Featherstone
10:00AM - 3:30PM Saturday and Sunday at Polly Hill
Location: Featherstone (Friday) and Polly Hill (Saturday and Sunday)
Fee: $240 for 3 day workshop
This workshop is for people who know something about painting and want to learn more about painting outdoors in nature. All mediums are welcome although Liz's knowledge is of oil paint. The group will meet on Friday at Featherstone to get to know each other, share which artists you like or are influenced by, and discuss weekend logistics. On Saturday and Sunday you will be at Polly Hill Arboretum in West Tisbury.
The goal for Saturday and Sunday is to conduct two studies each day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon, observing the differences in the colors and the shadows as the light changes with the movement of the sun. For Liz, painting is all about attention to what is in front of you and simplifying what you see.
Students are asked to pack a lunch each day and bring plenty of fluids. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring layers, sun hat, sun glasses and sunscreen if you wish.
