In this workshop, participants will experiment with raku, horsehair, obvara and saggar firing. Students should have 4-6 bisque pieces prepared for the weekend event, please use B-mix 5 or porcelain for pieces (B-mix is preferred). Glazes and firing materials will be provided. This low-fire process involves heating bisqueware then placing it into containers with combustible materials which can produce a stunning variety of effects. This is a two day workshop, but students may take Saturday or Sunday only (Saturday: raku, horsehair raku, obvara / Sunday: raku and saggar).
Please note, Raku is a decorative process and glazes are NOT food safe. Most of this workshop will take place outdoors so please dress accordingly. Please contact
Frank with any questions.
