Beginner Rug Hooking Workshops with Island Hookers
Dates: Wednesday, October 30
Time: 3:00PM - 5:00PM or 6:00PM - 8:00PM Art Night!
Location: Art Barn Drawing Studio
Fee: $40, includes materials to make 8”x8” mat (wool and linen backing with pattern). Tools will be provided for class and can be purchased separately to take home (14” hoop, 5.5” bent handle scissors, and hook for $50).
Students will learn how to hand hook a rug with an 8”x8” mat. They will hook a heart, a pumpkin, a flower, or a tree, and will be assisted by Island Hookers to help them pick wool colors to make it their own. (Rug hooking is like coloring with wool.) Students will leave the session with the 18”x30” linen backing with design and all the wool required to finish their 8” x 8” mat. Students have the option to purchase the tool 'kit' separately (hoop, bent handle scissors and hook). Island Hookers is a group of local rug hookers passionate about their craft! They hope to spread interest in rug hooking and are donating their time to teach workshops and oversee open studios, as well as donating the linen backing and wool to the Beginner Hooking Workshops!
