Enameling: Glass on Metal with Lucinda Sheldon

Day: Tuesdays

Dates: October 5, 12, 19, 26
Time: 10:00AM - 1:00PM
Location: Jewelry Studio
Fee: $75 per class, includes basic materials  (additional copper and silver pieces available for purchase ranging from $10-$30).

Come try your hand at enameling, an ancient art form applying powdered glass to metal and firing it to fusing in a kiln or with a torch. Explore the techniques of sifting, stenciling, stamping, scaffito, cloisonne and more. Each week learn something new and create your own one of a kind piece of artwork from jewelry to art pieces.

  • The first class will be Torch Fired Enameling, the next three classes will be Kiln Fired Enameling.
  • Each class will cover how to prepare the metal, copper, for enameling such as piercing, shaping and stamping.
  • How to clean the metal before firing and apply the enamel for firing.
  • Learn the enameling techniques of sifting, stamping, stenciling, sgraffito and cloisonnne.
  • How to finish a enameled piece.
  • Each class will complete at least one project of an enameled piece, and several samples.


Classes can be signed up one at a time but the more classes the more to learn. 

*Dress code: For safety reasons we ask everyone to comply with the dress code policy for the Jewelry Studio: Closed-toe footwear (no sandals), pants/shorts must go below the knee, long hair must be pulled back from the face and secured. Wear a headband or a hat if your hair can’t be tied back.
